As editors, we deem it our collective role to raise the bar of journalism and strive to protect the freedom of expression. As the broadcast industry is new in India, norms have to evolve, functionaries need to be trained, content required to be made credible and constructive and steps taken for broadcast media to thrive in a free and fair environment. This purpose can be achieved only when the editors band together in pursuit of this noble objective and institutionalize collective thinking. The launch of a forum of broadcast editors-Broadcast Editors Association (BEA) is the first step in this direction.
